Space and programming CPD this summer
In recent months there’s not been much time for teachers to think about developing their own skills, but now you’ve got a breather, STEM Learning have a couple of opportunities coming up to introduce you to or refresh your primary space and programming knowledge.
ESERO-UK Space Detectives CPD
Aug 25th, 16:00 – 17:00
The topic of space holds fascination for many people of all ages, and handily enough space can be used as a context of delivery through which much of the primary science curriculum can be taught? This is a super way of engaging young primary pupils and inspiring them in those all-important STEM subjects.
Book on to find out about a plethora of fab resources.
Primary programming and algorithms
August 5th, 15:00-16:30
Programming and algorithms are fundamental to the primary computing curriculum. During this CPD, you will discover engaging and effective ways to help children use computational thinking. You’ll help them develop their knowledge of how technology works, and the skills to make computers follow instructions through simple programs. A range of approaches will be explored, including ‘unplugged’ activities that require no computer. You’ll also gain confidence in leading programming and multimedia activities that allow creativity and promote widespread engagement. The professional development will highlight the differences and commonalities across Key Stages 1 and 2, helping all primary teachers to plan for age-appropriate learning while developing an understanding of progression through computing.
