STEM Clubs CPD: Getting Started

STEM Clubs CPD: Getting Started

3 Dec 2021

The West of England STEM Club Champions are hosting an online CPD for teachers and Ambassadors who are looking to get involved with or start their own STEM Clubs.

About this event

STEM Clubs are a great way to get students, either in a school club or a community setting, really engaged and excited by STEM. STEM Clubs are practical, fun and not restricted by the curriculum!

These Getting Started CPD Sessions will focus on helping attendees assess the needs of students and how to create a STEM Club that can grow to be successful and thriving. These CPD sessions are for complete beginners and we welcome both STEM Ambassadors and teachers.

Event details

These CPD sessions will be split over two days:

  • Part 1 Tuesday 18th January from 4pm-5.30pm: online CPD session to be delivered by Graphic Science, the STEM Club Champions for West England. Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Part 2 Thursday 20th January from 4pm-5pm: review, show and tell and Q&A. Duration: 1 hour

Between sessions 1 & 2 there will be the option of some asynchronous ‘homework’. This isn’t mandatory, but will inform the contents of the second session.

CPD Sessions will be delivered via Zoom. For STEM Ambassadors who wish to attend this CPD our hope is that you will be able to offer insight into STEM in the real world to participating teachers, possible careers links and potentially support for a new STEM club. You could also use this CPD to help launch a STEM Club in your area if you have local community or school contacts that would be able to support you running a STEM Club.
