Leaders Award Virtual Gallery Now Open!
Despite the difficult circumstances of the past year, an amazing 30,000 children took part in the Primary Engineer Leaders Award this year, answering the question “If you were an Engineer, what would you do?”.
The competition encourages pupils from primary and secondary schools across the UK to look at the world around them and find engineered solutions to common problems.
The entries for this year have now been graded by engineering professionals and educationalists and it’s time to celebrate all the hard work of the pupils, teachers, parents, carers and engineers who took part.
Due to Covid-19 we are unable to host the South West award ceremony at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol in person this year, but the team at Primary Engineer have developed a unique way for us all to celebrate together online.
This year there will be virtual galleries for all shortlisted entries, with public announcements of the winner and judges highly commended for each region. The winners of this year’s ‘If You Were An Engineer, What Would You Do?®’ competition will receive VR Googles that they can build and decorate and then use to view the gallery in virtual reality. Keep an eye on the Leaders Award Twitter account for photos from schools taking part on the day – @leadersaward or follow the hashtag #EngineerInTheMaking2020.
We hope you enjoy touring the gallery and exploring the entries as much as we have! And if you are feeling inspired, why not take part in the 2021 competition? You can find more details and register here.
