The Ogden Trust is the place to go to find fanatstic help to deliver on your class’ physics curriculum needs. From teaching resources to a supportive school partnership programme, they’ve got it all so read on to find out more!

Primary Teaching Resources

The resources are all written by primary and physics specialists and aim to support delivery of hands-on science in the classroom. Searchable by age and curriculum, there are a range of resource types:

• Phizzi Practical: step by step guides classroom activities
• Phizzi Enquiry: context-led, open ended investigations
• Phizzi Focus: subject overview for primary science topics
• Phizzi Problem Solving: activities to support numeracy and working scientifically in primary science
• Working Scientifically: guides to support the different scientific enquiries required for primary science
• Ideas Over Time: activities and information to encourage students to think about how ideas about science have changed.

School Partnerships

The programme offers funding and support to groups of schools that are committed to enhancing physics teaching and learning. In primary education Ogden particularly aim to:

• raise the profile of science in the primary curriculum, with the emphasis on physical processes
• enhance teachers’ confidence in the planning, delivery and assessment of primary science (physical processes)
• support science subject leaders in creating a sustainable network.

A partnership usually lasts for up to 5 years and the groups of schools can apply for funding to support events, activities, trips and training.  In addition, primary schools can apply for a grant to refurbish and equip a physics laboratory – Phiz Lab.

Primary CPD

CPD is delivered through training days hosted nationally by independent schools and universities and is subsidised by the Ogden Trust. The Primary Physics Professional Learning course (P3L) programme covers: Magnetic Mathematics, Electrifying English, Light & Sound and Creative Cosmos.
