‘DRY: The diary of a water superhero’ – free online book and competition
A team of scientists from UWE Bristol and Waterwise have translated their research on drought and water scarcity into a beautifully illustrated book and competition for children, to inspire young champions of climate action.
DRY: The diary of a water superhero is available as an online book, and provides an ideal opportunity to engage young people to think about water use and enable positive behaviour change.
The team have now launched a UK-wide competition for 5-13 year olds, challenging them to illustrate how their home, school or garden could look if everyone treated water more wisely.
For teachers, this curriculum-led creative competition offers an ideal opportunity to embed geography, science and PSHE into real-world learning, informed by evidence-based scientific research.
It can be carried out in lessons / activities or set as a homework assignment. It is also ideal for out-of-school activity groups, and for parents getting their kids engaged with environmental issues.
Entries are open until June 6th and are welcomed from individual children, classes and children’s groups and clubs, such as Beavers and Rainbows.
