Schools Invited to Sign Up for Free STEM Outreach Day

UWE Bristol is inviting local primary schools to take part in a day of free engineering outreach workshops on 17 March 2027. Delivered by student engineers and educators as part of UWE Bristol’s Professionalism for Engineers module, the workshops are designed to be inspiring, fun and accessible, helping pupils explore curriculum-linked engineering concepts through engaging practical activities.

The programme also provides valuable experience for UWE Bristol students. Engineering students develop their communication skills and learn how to turn technical knowledge into activities that inspire young learners, while future teachers studying education gain confidence in delivering STEM concepts in the classroom. Last year, the project delivered 56 classes to more than 1,500 children in local schools.

Schools are now encouraged to sign up their classes for this free STEM opportunity and give pupils the chance to discover more about engineering and the possibilities of STEM careers. To register your interest or find out more, contact Juliet.Edmonds@uwe.ac.uk.

UWE Bristol is also inviting community groups and projects to put forward challenges that could be explored by engineering students as part of their studies. From sustainable design to improving community spaces, student teams can bring fresh ideas and technical expertise to real-world challenges, while gaining valuable experience themselves.
