Mark works for Ambition Lawrence Weston – a resident organisation setup to make Lawrence Weston (housing estate in North West Bristol) a better place to live.
Mark lives in Lawrence Weston and as Community Development Worker supports his community to improve their local area – increasing services needed and creating access to leisure training and work opportunities. He does this with a strong focus on sustainability and climate action, as Mark recognises the benefits this has for his community.
The job is extremely varied and brings Mark into contact with lots of different people from different industries and backgrounds. From building the largest wind turbine in England, to litter picking, his work is very different each day.

Workplace: Mark’s place of work is where he lives! He’s based at the community centre but a lot of the work is outdoors with people in local groups.
Mark partners closely with the local authority, central government, funders, planners, architects, builders, other voluntary organisations, but mostly with local residents who direct his work.
