Green Job events for young people with additional needs
Green Futures special educational needs summits have officially launched! These events are specially designed sessions that showcase the range of local green jobs to young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
NeonDaisy
Parents and children from the NeonDaisy group of neurodivergent girls – visited the Inspire Sustainability team at UWE Engineering and explored the ‘Inspire Green Future’ cards and the wonderful people featured on them.
Parent’s said:
“Really interesting and engaging. Loved the career cards and how they showed range of skills.”
“Josh is INCREDIBLE!! He is SOO fun and makes it interesting and feels like you’re on holiuday :)”
Special thanks to Adriana D’Souza from Airbus who shared her story with the group.
Threeways + wind turbines
Last week Threeways, a special educational school in Bath, bought a group into UWE. They explored the cards and heard from STEM ambassador, Kiki Hussein from McLaughlin & Harvey, about her career journey.
Then they designed wind turbine blades in the “Power Our Future” workshop. As well as getting a taster for life at University. The students were lovely and incredibly engaged – check out their faces below!
