Becky works for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT), which is a charity that enriches lives through its care of wetlands (the areas around bodies of water, like lakes).
Becky is responsible for feeding and caring for over 400 captive birds in WWT’s zoological collection. She monitors the health and welfare of these birds, and assists the veterinary team with treating any sick birds.
Becky gets to incubate and hand rear birds in the duckery.

Official job title: Avian Breeding Centre Supervisor
Earning: £20,000 – £27,000 a year
Workplace: Becky is usually outdoors in her wellies surrounded by ducks, eggs, incubators and ducklings. She works closely with a team of assistants, placement students and volunteers who help manage the breeding centre. And with the veterinary team to provide medical care to the birds.
Becky warns that ducklings are very cute but very messy! The worst bit? “Getting covered in bird poo!”
