Lucy works for The Bristol Port Company, looking after the local environment of the busy port.

A port is a place where ships come and go and Lucy plays an important role ensuring that the air, water, and even the noise from all the ships and trucks don’t harm the Port’s natural environment. 

She’s excited about new projects that aim to take the Port to net zero by 2040, such as identifying innovative technologies to make the Port more sustainable.

Lucy’s team works across all aspects of Port activity, from waste management to finance, making sure all Port workers are protecting the environment and working towards sustainability goals.

The team are also responsible for a network of environmental corridors that protect a range of wildlife-rich habitats and provide links through the Port for wildlife to move through.

Workplace: Lucy gets involved with teams from across the Port and is surrounded by ships, cranes, warehouses as well as marshes, newts and falcons!

Outside of the Port, Lucy works with nature conservation agencies and wildlife charities to care for the marine homes of species living in the Severn Estuary.
