Free interactive KS2 STEM workshop available – “Izzy Gizmo” by Pip Jones
The Bristol Old Vic and UWE Bristol are teaming up to provide a free interactive and fun workshop based on the book ‘Izzy Gizmo’ by Pip Jones.
Date: Thurs 6th June 10am-2.30pm
Location: School of Engineering building, UWE
The day would include:
An interactive STEM workshop for one KS2 class. Storytelling session with author Pip Jones. Funding for coach travel to and from your school (we ask that this is organised and booked by the school)

“I’m working on a project with Lead Artist & Composer Elizabeth Westcott. Elizabeth has permission to adapt children’s book Izzy Gizmo, by Pip Jones into a theatre show for children. Izzy Gizmo is a global majority character with a big imagination. She invents elaborate machines, which are often more powerful than she anticipates. The story offers an opportunity to focus on female and global majority engineers who have been undervalued throughout history, and we intend for this project to inspire all children to pursue careers in STEM.
As part of the show’s development stage, we want to work with schools and community groups, and we’ve partnered with UWE’s Inspire Sustainability outreach team to deliver a FREE school workshop at UWE, focusing on STEM. Please let us know if this something one of your KS2 classes would be interested in taking part in. Ideally, it would be a class that has a lot of girls or similar girl to boy ratio, if possible!“
