Each year, the climate crisis becomes ever more urgent. Scientists say that we have until 2030 to keep global heating under 1.5C.

The West of England has created a Climate Action Plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. Working together with regional councils like Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and Bath & NE Somerset, the aim is to become carbon neutral and climate-resilient by 2030.

The goals are set, but the routes to get there are still in question. That’s where the Sustainability Solutions Summit comes in.

How might we reach net zero by 2030?

We’re asking you to think like an engineer – it’s all about finding solutions to the problems our society faces. We want you to be curious, work collaboratively, and imagine our future together.

The following resources are designed to be used in class or at home, to get your students thinking like an engineer and discussing potential solutions to the climate and ecological emergency with their peers.

You can use these resources to hold your own summit, focusing on three different aspects of the Climate Action Plan, just as we did at our Youth Summit in October or you can pick and choose your favourite parts for discussion with your class.
