Judith works for Suez, Recycling and Recovery running the Household Waste and Recycling Centres. People donate their old household items to a drop-off point at the centres and Judith guides her team to sort, test and price items that are in good condition. Her team then sells the items, which helps the environment and also raises money for charity.

The shop sells a whole range of items – furniture, bicycles and scooters, electrical items like tvs and games consoles, toys and much more!

As the Reuse Shop manager, Judith plans ahead to make sure the shop reaches the team goals and updates the wider business on progress.

Surprising bit? “I drive a van around the recycling centres to collect reusable donations.”

Earning: £24,000 – £31,000

Workplace: Judith’s job is hands-on in the shop – she’s usually kitted up in hi-vis with steel toe-capped boots and gloves when sorting through donated items, with her pricing gun and electrical testing equipment to hand. But there’s also times when she gets a sit down – at the till or writing reports at her laptop.

Judith works with the shop assistants, as well as the health and safety, communication, finance, IT and recycling centre teams. Externally, she works with partner charities such as refugee support charities and library of things.

Best bit? “Seeing more and more people finding the shop for the first time and falling in love with the idea of reuse.”
