Maisy works for Thatchers Cider, a food and drink company, as a Cider Academy Apprentice. She works in the Operations team searching for ways to improve site performance to save money, run faster and reduce the impact on the environment.
Surprising bit about her job? “Getting to be involved in important projects & use interesting machinery such as giant cranes.”
Maisy arranges meetings with other companies to organise future and current projects. She helps the team find solutions to problems and keep to deadlines and budgets. She also handles health & safety documentation to make sure that visitors working on site are safe.

Workplace: Maisy’s role is really varied, she does something different everyday. Sometimes at her laptop, other times out on site wearing hard hat and high vis kit, using angle grinders, welders, cranes and lorries.
She works with project managers, research and development staff, engineers, maintenance crews and software engineers.
Maisy likes, “Creating a lasting impact on the business. Helping to design layouts of whole factories. Learning how complicated machinery works.”

Maisy is just at the start of her career and part way through her apprenticeship at Thatchers Cider.
“I looked in to apprenticeships because they seemed look a good way to gain practical work experience while also still challenging myself academically.”
