Soil Campaigner
-
Mardi is a bio-scientist who is passionate about saving the planet’s soil.
The soil all around the world is dying, mostly due to farming practices like the overuse of pesticides and fertilizers. Soil is a living entity home to complex living ecosystem which recycles nutrients and absorbs greenhouse gases. To keep soil healthy and productive we need to look after it.
“I am a Save Soil volunteer monitoring the organic content in our soils and spreading the awareness to design agricultural operations that are kind to the environment.”
Mardi is also a Race Equality Activist and Campaigner for the South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network – because he believes that all people are needed to create an eco-friendly society where all communities coexist and nature thrives.

Workplace: As a campaigner and scientist, Mardi is sometimes based in a laboratory surrounded by high tech equipment, but also spends a lot of time at conferences speaking at stalls and campaigning outside of parliament buildings. He speaks to everyone from children, scientists, farmers and politicians.
As an equality activist, Mardi visits all sorts of organisations – banks, hospitals, libraries, factories, housing estates – to meet with people. Other times he’s busy in his office planning for meetings and writing reports.
Best bits? “Playing in Soil – we engage people by making clay figurines of soil creatures, worms and decorate earthen pots, we make hand prints using various coloured soils on a huge wall canvas….building a connection with soil – the very life force from where we obtain our food.
“Meeting 100s of people form different backgrounds and being able to connect with each one of them at their own wavelength.“
